Just working on a few poems for my lit group, so I thought I'd play around with it here. Also, a review I did as well.
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you!
You're so important, it's true.
Today is your special day,
So take a load off and go play.
We celebrate you today.
To make the magic last always.
Never forget how much you do.
There's no need to feel sad or blue.
This day is all your own.
Live it up, and don't stay home.
It's not about getting older and gray,
But celebrating YOU on your special day.
Behind Blue Eyes
--inspired by the song by Fred Durst
No one knows how it feels
To be me, inside me
How it feels
To look through these blue eyes
No one knows how it feels
To be struggling through my life
How I have to fight
Just to keep my head above water
No one knows how it feels
To be thrown into new territory
expected to always be the best
And barely coming through
No one knows how it feels
To want something so badly
But reaching that goal
Is the biggest challenge of your life
No one knows how it feels
To love someone so much you'd die
But at the same time feeling
Helpless at the tangle you've become
No one knows how it feels
To love your job location so much
But to detest the inner workings
And the degrading way you're treated
No one knows how it feels
To be counted on all the time
Fearful you can't measure up
Afraid of letting people down
No one knows how it feels
To have so many friends
But never see them or talking
Hoping you're still strong
No one knows how it feels
To miss someone right next to you
Afraid you'll lose them
Because you're never around to interact
No one knows how it feels
To hate the way you look
Unable to control it
No time to do anything about it
No one know how it feels
To have such low self esteem
Never believing in yourself
Always looking to others to build you up
No one knows how it feels
To be on an emotional roller coaster
Chastized for being too emotional
Not knowing another way to express yourself
No one knows how it feels
To deal with these issues inside me
Many people ralate to these
But they'll never know what I'M going through
No one knows how it feels
To live inside me
Looking through these blue eyes
Trying to cope with my struggles inside
Review
Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
This is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. I just re-read this book yet again. This is the story of the legend of King Arthur; however, this is told from the point of view of the women in Arthur's life (namely Igraine, Morgaine, Viviane and Gwenhwyfar.) This is an impeccable novel, and you can tell that Bradley did her research. This delves into religions without taking either side, and the scenes are painted beautifully. The imagery here is very rich. The characters feel as if you really get to know them, they are so deftly written. Bradley is so detailed in her work that you can get lost in the tale she is telling. I carried the book around with me everywhere, I was so enthralled with the story! (You take a look at the book, and because it's so thick, you assume it to be long and boring. It's worth every minute!) Bradley uses Arthurian legend as a starting point, and then she puts her own unique spin on the "fairy tale". The book is very detailed and realistically written. It is so rich in information that it needs to be read several times to catch all of the details. There has been several sequels to this book, and each one is wonderful as well. The mini-series on this story was terrific as well. It's hard to put a book of this caliber on the screen in a decent amount of time, but they did an excellent job of it. I highly recommend this book (and the movie as well!)
